5 Daily Habits for a Healthier Lifestyle🥗
Daily habits make up the foundation of your lifestyle, so they can have a major impact on your health and well-being – or lack thereof. Take control of your health and start living the healthy lifestyle you’ve always wanted by making sure to follow these 5 daily habits for better health every day.
1) Workout every day 💪
A healthy body requires some form of exercise every day. Many people get in the habit of working out three or four times per week and call it good, but not everyone has time to spare. If you want to maintain a healthy lifestyle, getting into fitness and staying there is going to require dedication. Make sure that you work out every day; even if it’s just 15 minutes, your body will thank you later on down the road by lowering your risk of cancer and other diseases.
2) Eat healthy every day 🥗
Most Americans eat unhealthy foods, skip exercise and otherwise aren’t very healthy on a daily basis. But there are simple steps you can take to make sure your diet is nutritious and you get some form of exercise every day. Eat at least five servings of fruits and vegetables every day; make sure they come from all four food groups: meat, dairy, grains and fruit/vegetables. Ensure you get at least 150 minutes of moderate exercise per week—this could be biking to work or taking walks around your neighborhood after dinner—and try to limit time spent in front of TV or video games. If that doesn’t seem doable every day, aim for at least three days a week.
3) Watch what you drink🍹
The Centers for Disease Control recommends that healthy adults drink about 2 liters (about 8 cups) of water each day. If you think you're drinking enough H2O, look at your habits with a critical eye—you may be surprised by how much water you really need to be drinking. According to USDA nutrition guidelines, 12% of your diet should come from drinks other than plain ol' water. In other words, if you drink more than 1 liter (4 cups) of juice or soda each day, try cutting back—or switch to diet versions if possible. In fact, sugar-sweetened beverages are an easy target and can quickly become an enemy in your quest to lose weight and keep it off.
4) Drink water, tea, or coffee ☕
Water is essential to good health, and what we put in our bodies directly affects how well we feel. While some people swear by their morning cup of joe, it’s actually caffeine that makes us jittery. When you cut out caffeine, your body begins to crave healthy habits; I find myself drinking lots of water or herbal tea throughout my day instead. Drinking plenty of water also helps prevent cravings because it gets rid of feelings of hunger; drinking a glass before meals can help you avoid unnecessary snacks throughout your day. There are many benefits to increasing your water intake, so find ways to add more H2O into your daily life!
5) Get 7 hours of sleep every night 😴
Sleep is important, not just for energy and focus, but also because it allows your body to recover from all of your daily stresses. Getting 7 hours of sleep every night helps ensure that you are performing at your best and promotes overall healthiness. Your body is hard at work repairing cells while you sleep, so it’s critical that you make time to relax and recharge. Keep an eye on how many hours of sleep you get each night, as well as what time you go to bed at night and wake up in the morning. This will help you determine if you’re getting enough rest or if any changes need to be made.
